Earn Money By Running A Successful Blog

Most bloggers want to earn money for their efforts. However, if your only intention in running a blog is to make money you are almost certainly doomed to failure. That is not to say that there aren’t some blogs out there that are bringing in a lot of money, they certainly are. The fact is that most blogs earn very little money for the owners, if any.

You first motivation should be to provide useful and informative content, preferably on one topic. Many beginners make the mistake of starting up a blog about a subject chosen merely for it’s perceived money making power instead of a topic that they are truly interested in. In the beginning it may seem easy to come up with new posts, but as time goes by this gets more difficult until, often, the blog is all but abandoned.

If you are blogging about a subject that really interests you it will feel much less like work. You will actually enjoy working with your blog which will tend to make the quality of your content that much better. You will feel a strong connection to your blog and all the posts you have crafted. Turn your hobbies or interests into a part-time or full-time income.

So, how do you make money from a blog?

When I first started I wrote that your intentions should not be only to make money. I am sure that you could make money with your blog, but if that is your only goal then there are much easier ways to make money. However – if you would like to create yourself a blog about your favorite music, bass fishing, toy collecting, scrapbooking, whatever, you name it – YOU can make money with a blog.

There is a discussion going on in my favorite webmaster forum about how important making frequent posts are in relation to your earnings.

Making money with your blog depends upon numerous factors. The frequency of new posts is actually a minor variable. More important are the quality of the writing and your SEO efforts and natural backlinks. If you are using Word Press be sure to use something like the all in one SEO plug-in. Just be sure that your urls are search engine friendly and archives and categories are set to “no follow” to avoid problems with duplicate content throughout your blog.

My philosophy is to concentrate on the actual content instead of how much money I will earn from the page (try to think of each blog post as an individual page for that is precisely what it is).

There are a lot of people out there with many different interests, if you write good stuff there WILL be people who are interested enough to return. Also, it is much more likely that other webmasters will link to you. All this equals a continual rise in traffic and that, my friend, will result in earnings.

When you build your blog to the point to where you are getting a nice flow of traffic you will start seeing significant earnings from sources such as affiliate advertising and Google Ads.

How much you earn depends a lot upon the quality and quantity of your traffic, but once again, there are other equally important factors. You must choose the right affiliate products to promote and if you use AdSense you will need to work with the placement

The whole thing is very simple once you think about it.

  • Build a blog on a topic that interests you.
  • Add new content often.
  • Concentrate on quality over quantity.
  • Learn and practice good techniques to make your blog both search engine and visitor friendly.
  • Consider using the services of a good link building company

If you follow these steps and don’t get discouraged your blog will grow into a money maker for you.
